July 2010 - Golden Acorn necklace for prize winning author

Golden Acorn by Edward Lloyd - picture courtesy of Shropshire StarEdward Lloyd, the master goldsmith behind the Shropshire Lad Jewellery collection, was commissioned to design and make a golden acorn necklace from yellow and rose gold as a present for a prize winning local author.

Shropshire author Catherine Cooper has recently won Brit Writers' Unpublished Writer of the Year 2010 and her book, The Golden Acorn, is the Winner of the Best Children's Story 2010. Catherine was so pleased with the acorn pendant, which she describes as stunning and beautiful, that she wrote Edward into her second book as ‘Lloyd the Goldsmith’.

The poetic jewellery of Shropshire Lad is introduced at National Trust property Berrington Hall, which is situated between Ludlow and Leominster. Berrington Hall shop Manager Carol, in her search for locally produced products, feels this exciting and unique range of jewellery - so closely connected with A.E.Housman's "Shropshire Lad" and created by Edward Lloyd in Ludlow - is an excellent example of one of the many wonderful products produced in Shropshire. The Cherry Blossom range is the first in a series of ranges echoing the poetry of Shropshire and its launch coincides with the blossoming Shropshire spring.
